Aljazeera journalist Anas al-Sharif & cameramen attempted to provoke a security incident at the Netzarim Corridor at the behest of Hamas. They tried to put up a drone above the Egyptian & American forces after the withdrawal of Israeli troops to capture footage but were likely gathering intel and scouting the area for Hamas, which was rumored to want to use the Netzarim Corridor as a site for a future hostage release to prove it is in full control of Gaza. The American PMCs worked with Egyptian security personnel to get the drone operator not to fly it overhead, with tensions escalating. The Aljazeera journalist’s team sent it up anyway, and the video of the incident has been distributed on social media with laughter commentary to boast about defying US security contractors and proving that Netzarim, like most of Gaza, is back under full control of the “resistance.” Extremely reckless behavior that’s going to endanger the ceasefire and create unnecessary risks for civilians and the fragile calm that’s desperately needed.
