A whole class of Palestinian “journalists” in Gaza who gleefully cheered on Hamas after October 7 and only started screaming once they faced the consequences of the group’s terrorism are going out of their way to minimize, ignore, and belittle the anti-Hamas mass demonstrations by tens of thousands of people throughout the Gaza Strip. Worse, they are perpetuating an age-old victimhood narrative that is endemic in the Palestinian national project, refusing to take any responsibility for actions, blaming all of the Palestinian people’s ills on Israel, and acting as if no one or nothing else is even partly responsible for the disaster in Gaza. The target audience of these so-called journalists or “activists” are not the people of Gaza; instead, it is clueless and ideological people in the diaspora, non-Palestinians, and outsiders who are brainlessly cheering on a terrorist militia simply because it’s claiming to “resist” Israel. Take good notice of all of these characters now and tabulate who is with the people of Gaza VS. who is with a narrow narrative that merely uses the people of Gaza to gather likes, follows, shares, and clout, all while undermining the very interests of Palestinians in the coastal enclave. Promoting Palestinian accountability, responsibility, introspection, and soul-searching is necessary and courageous to bolster the chances of obtaining freedom and liberation.
