Israel can obviously never accept any deal that leaves Hamas in charge of Gaza because that would defeat the entire purpose of the war and all the sacrifices made in it (on both sides). It would also simply guarantee another future war once Hamas felt they were ready to relaunch attacks. But also, do people realize how significant and despicable of a change in the deal it is to offer dead hostages in the place of living ones? One of the main groups of hostages that Hamas has mostly refused to release thus far is young women. Not hard to speculate why they would not want that group free to tell their stories. Some people are speculating that the reason Hamas wants to change the terms to living or dead is because they don’t have 33 living hostages (in which case the focus should be on putting an end to Hamas anyways), but what if they do and simply don’t want those hostages free for other reasons. Making a deal where Israel values dead bodies almost as much as living hostages would take away any incentive Hamas has for keeping those girls alive. No one who actually cares about those hostages can reasonably advocate for such a deal.
