No one is really denying that there were senior Hamas terrorists taken out by the Rafah strike. That doesn’t diminish the harm from the fire that resulted and the civilians who died, but it does emphasize the problem of Hamas using civilians as human shields. There is no pressure on Hamas to stop doing it. Of course it is still Israel’s responsibility to make better assessments on the risks of each strike and to diminish the civilian casualties. But Palestinian civilians deaths are essential to Hamas’ strategy.
