Getting fired is tough on people, but that's not a reason not to reform organizations that need it. Organizations go through restructurings all the time. I say this as someone who thinks some of the cuts are being rushed through too quickly. There is a real risk of cutting good programs with the wasteful ones. We've already seen several instances of cuts being reversed once they realized what they cut. But that's because the programs were necessary/good, not because there should be some special sympathy for federal employees that would prevent cuts.
