Been thinking a lot about how enemies of western civilization have made their central strategy to manipulate and use our values against us. Values they themselves don’t actually care about. People who care little about concepts like free speech, human rights, and rule of law have taken to citing those things explicitly to undermine the institutions and entities that defend them. The worst people on the planet are now constantly framing themselves as defenders of free speech to avoid criticism of their speech. The worst countries on the planet are now constantly framing themselves as defenders of human rights to avoid any examination of their abuses. The biggest criminals are hiding behind spin about legal rights to avoid condemnation of their crimes. It goes on and on.

Makes perfect sense: A United Nations judge who previously was a fellow at Columbia University’s Institute for the study of Human Rights was convicted of human trafficking today.
