Taal filed this lawsuit because he knew he would be a prime target for deportation and was likely to have his visa revoked any day now. His actions during the previous administration had already put him at risk of losing his visa after Cornell suspended him for his violent behavior on campus. They only decided not to disenroll him because of complaints that it would cost him his visa.
