I obviously benefit financially from X’s ad revenue sharing program, but this platform would improve substantially if they got rid of it. It has driven the worst incentives. A lot of people just post pure engagement bait. The algorithm clearly rewards the most negative content. A lot of foreign accounts also now post exclusively about US politics for that very reason. Getting rid of it also wouldn’t discourage valuable content because creators can still earn via subscriptions (though X has refused to allow me to set up subscriptions for 3 years but that’s unrelated).
