I don’t think there has ever been a clearer example of the necessity of choosing the lesser evil in politics than the NYC Mayor’s race. Cuomo is awful. His mismanagement of Covid was indefensible. But the main alternative is a socialist extremist who would destroy the largest city in the United States. Someone that would make Chicago’s Brandon Johnson (with his 6% approval rating) almost seem sane. Mamdani’s policy prescriptions in almost every area would be an unprecedented disaster. It’s terrible that NYC has put themselves in a position to choose between these two people, but it’s not even close.
