I am especially sad about losing all this incredible research & its impact on the future of science & health. Florian & his colleagues do amazing vaccine development & outbreak response work—some of the best in virology. We should all grieve the loss of lifesaving research.

Sadly, today marks the end of our CIVICs program (https://www.niaidcivics.org/about-civics/). The program was highly successful in terms of influenza vaccine development but also in terms of responding to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is sad to see the valuable structures that were built dissolving.
