The day after a woman allegedly brandishing a knife at Jews is stopped by police and @Shomrim in London, a man brandishing a knife and trying to set fire to a synagogue has been killed in Rouen, France. This week, three men have appeared in court, charged with planning an ISIS-style attack against Jews on British soil. Every time antisemitism surges, Jews are told that we are mistaking discourse about Israel with antisemitism, or lying and exaggerating in order to stifle criticism of Israel. Nobody is better placed to warn about the dangerous levels of extremism and Jew-hatred on our streets and campuses than the Jewish community. Listen, take it seriously and act. If anyone in the wider public thinks that extremists and terrorists who target Jews will leave them alone because they are not Jewish, they are sorely mistaken. None of this takes place in a vacuum. We are working with the UK Government to improve the policing of marches and the response to university encampments where anti-Jewish racism and glorification of terrorism by masked individuals have been repeatedly on display. Our proposals include the proscription of various terrorist organisations that are currently not on the Government’s list. They must be proscribed urgently. Until now, our country has been far too lax in tackling antisemitic racism and extremism. It is getting worse and worse. Write to your MP today asking them to work with CAA to ensure that the changes that we need are introduced. It takes just a moment at https://t.co/4jB95MBJKv.
