Campaign Against Antisemitism
An experienced Jewish member of staff at the @BBC has said that antisemitism has become “normalised” at the broadcaster. They accused the BBC of failing to take seriously repeated claims of antisemitic behaviour and attitudes within the organisation after they have been forced to endure antisemitic and anti-Israeli comments on a near-daily basis, only for their concerns to be dismissed by managers. Writing anonymously for @Telegraph, they said: “Antisemitism exists in the newsrooms of Britain’s public service broadcaster. It has done for years, and it is alive and well today, refuelled by the events of Oct 7 and after. I have experienced it first hand, too much, in my career at the Corporation, both before and since the Hamas attacks.” Jewish staff at the BBC are enduring racism, and their bosses are unwilling or unable to address it. Some staff are leaving the broadcaster altogether. With other scandals at the BBC, it seems to take external media scrutiny for the BBC to take action against internal abuse. There are serious structural issues at our national broadcaster. Perhaps now that this brave whistleblower has spoken out, the BBC might finally start to take racism against Jews seriously in its newsroom and its output. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/11/30/anti-semitism-bbc-now-normal-after-oct-7-whistleblow-claims/
