Lebanese media report ICJ President Nawaf Salam has obtained the 65 votes needed from parliament members to designate him as Lebanon’s next Prime Minister. Once consultations officially conclude, President Joseph Aoun needs to formally appoint him to form the next government.

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has begun consultations with Parliament Members in Baabda Palace to designate a new Prime Minister to form a new government. The selection is between billionaire and current Caretaker PM Najib Mikati (left) and President of the International Court of Justice in the Hague Nawaf Salam (right). Mikati is criticized for being soft on Hezbollah, and Salam for being full-on anti-Israel.
