The UK is bound by the European Convention on Human Rights. Article 10 protects the right “to receive and impart information and ideas without interference by public authority.” The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child is even more explicit: Article 13 says “the child shall have the right to freedom of expression,” including freedom to “seek, receive and impart information and ideas of all kinds.” Blocking children from X, YouTube, educational content, political speech and online association is plainly a disproportionate interference. You are trampling treatees, international law, and human rights. As someone who sees themselves as first and foremost a human rights lawyer, this is ironic.
