Bowman wouldn't have to say that he doesn't mean it. He could win on actual malice. But, of course, what York really means is that it should be expensive to criticize Elon Musk, whose butthole has a Byron York shaped hickey the size of a golf ball

This kind of thing has been litigated before, usually unsuccessfully. But a lawsuit would be worthwhile. It would be good to see Bowman argue that he didn't really mean Musk is an actual thief, or an actual Nazi, and that he was just expressing a general opinion.
