The facility targeted by the airstrike in Damascus was a consulate in the same way the Wolf’s Lair was a lovely mountain retreat. Iran is not a normative country. Its diplomatic missions are hubs of terror activity, exploiting diplomatic cover to destabilize countries around the world. In this particular case, the facility was a local headquarters of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), a branch of the Iranian military designated as a terrorist organization by the U.S. and other countries. It was—by Iran’s own admission—playing host to a high-level planning meeting between senior IRGC figures and representatives of local Iranian proxy groups engaged in terror against Israel. This was a military airstrike targeting military figures in a military facility. Don’t let anyone get away with claiming otherwise.
