Ever unpredictable, President Trump has, in recent days, done the seemingly impossible, winning the support of both the left and the right in Israel. On the left, he is credited with having brought about the release of Israeli hostages by pressing Prime Minister Netanyahu to agree to the ceasefire deal with Hamas. The prevailing sentiment has been expressed by at least one pundit: "Who would have thought that he, of all people, would be our savior?" On the right, he is viewed as moving away from longstanding U.S. support for a two-state solution in favor of the permanent relocation of at least some Palestinians to other countries, significantly altering the demographic reality between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea. Can this unusual circumstance be sustained? We'll likely see in the coming days and weeks.
