This person is openly and unabashedly hostile to a central tenet of contemporary Jewish identity. That he is currently likely to be the next mayor of the city with the largest Jewish community in the world should give us all pause.

The presumptive next mayor of New York, Zohran Mamdani, uses "Zionist" as a slur. The overwhelming majority of Jews are Zionists—that is, they believe Israel has a right to exist as a Jewish state—and consider anti-Zionism antisemitic. Caveat emptor.
