Former (and future?) prime minister Bennett writes about meeting with surviving members of the emergency teams of several kibbutzim that were attacked on October 7. Bennett writes: As far as I'm concerned, every soldier, commander, policeman and citizen who got on his vehicle on 7/10 and made contact with terrorists showed almost supernatural courage and heroism. Here is the reality of the 7/10: 1. 3,000 terrorists breached the border fence and entered Israel and the communities and carried out a horrific murder and kidnapping spree. 2. The government of Israel and the IDF High Command have committed a huge, unimaginable failure in allowing this to happen. 3. In the first hours, the members of the standby units fought desperate heroic battles, with crazy numbers, sometimes 7-8 Israelis against 150 terrorists. 4. There were four centers of pogrom: Kfar Gaza, Be'eri, Nir Oz and the Nova festival. 5. There were dozens more battle centers where our men and women fell, but they prevented a mass slaughter. 6. Thousands of Israelis, policemen, regular soldiers, reservists and civilians took initiative that day, got on vehicles and drove into the inferno and saved lives. 7. Naturally, mistakes were made in the field, but this is the most natural thing to happen in an inhuman and abnormal situation that has never happened before. 8. Everyone who went down there are heroes. 9. The huge failure is of the state institutions, the government and the security organizations the IDF and Shin Bet, but not of the fighters themselves! 10. It is a moral error to direct the spotlight to the fighters and commanders in the field, instead of the huge failure of the top political and military ranks. I want to say to the fighters, many of whom I have met - those who fought in Be'eri, who were injured there, who lost friends there. Those who have since returned to months of incredible operations in Gaza. Simple warriors who risked their lives to save souls. Fighters who fell victim to the failure of the political echelon and the senior command. Young people who were few against many - I and all of Israel love you, are proud of you and hug you. Thank you for your bravery. On 7/10 there was no leadership, but there were Israelis. The people—a nation of lions 🇮🇱 https://bird.makeup/@naftalibennett/1811388507648077965
