“Every time I tell her story, she stays in the world a little bit longer. Every person who knows her and says her name makes us a little bit less sad.” Today, I met Kati Zohar, whose daughter, Bar, was at the Nova festival on October 7. When the rockets began, Bar called her father and begged for help. He told her to get in the car and drive, to find safety, to get as far away as possible. She and her friends raced out of the festival grounds, heading toward Be’eri - only to be stopped by police. There were terrorists ahead, they warned. Turn back. So they did. And they drove straight into another group of terrorists. Gunfire shattered the air. Bullets tore through the car. One struck Bar in the thigh. The vehicle careened into a ditch. She had seconds to decide - stay and die, or make a run for it. “Run,” she told her friends. They raced toward another car and she drove until she lost consciousness, eventually succumbing to her wounds. Bar Zohar was just 21 years old. Say her name. Share her story. May the memory of this beautiful girl forever be a blessing 🕯️
