Will the Houthis continue their winning streak and push toward the former North-South Yemen border, potentially opening the road toward Aden, the temporary seat of Yemen’s internationally recognized government, and threatening its survival? Or will they stop at the old southern border, as their public messaging has suggested, and negotiate with southern Yemeni forces from a position of strength? The next few hours could provide a critical indication of Houthi intentions and whether this offensive ends at the old border or develops into a much broader campaign toward southern Yemen. My vote: They won’t enter Aden, well at least for now.
