I think this is the problem, actually. Democrats have not taken the border as aggressively as we should have because we don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings. There’s no reason to lapse into racist stereotypes, but there’s also no reason to ignore the fact that our border patrol deals with 2.4 million cases a year. The amount of fentanyl being smuggled in over the Southern border is mind-boggling. The stories of young girls that have been sex trafficked by drug cartels is horrifying. And frankly after October 7th, it’s entirely reasonable to worry about these terrorist nutjobs attacking us. I completely reject the idea that the border is a left versus right issue. It’s a national security issue.

What you describe actually perpetuates the stereotypes and divides. The progressives are supposed to deny stereotypes & bridge divides. Yet when they associate all Latinos with illegal immigration, when they associate all African Americans with crime rates or lower incomes, they are the ones promoting racist tropes and points of view and sustaining the divides.
