Today is thanksgiving. And just like every thanksgiving for 20 years, I am unwelcome to celebrate it with my family because I am trans. I was adopted. This is two sets of families that have thrown me away. It is a pain that never heals, I just try to get busy with work and not think about it. There is a political project to dehumanize and degrade trans people, excluding us from society. This is what it results in, broken families and trans people treated as disposable nuisances. The current discourse recognizes none of this cruelty.
