No one has ever asked me, “Brianna, why did your trans politics shift so strongly towards the center?” One of the advantages of working with superPACs is we do polling that doesn’t get released. I was part of a project to deeply poll the United States on trans issues. I helped design the questions. A lot of money went into it. We were hopeful the results would be good enough to release publicly and prove the Democratic Party should stand strongly with trans people. It showed the opposite. It actually terrified me. The messages that win are the older ones, it’s a personal choice, individual freedom issue. The messages that lose are all this new progressive lunacy - particularly the non-binary, declare your own gender stuff. I know the “activists” don’t want to hear it, but it’s political suicide to stay the course. If you’re serious about trans rights, we need to change course.
