All I will say about the Trump military ban on trans people is this. I think one reason I ended up more normal than many of my sisters is coming from a conservative military family. Those values have been tremendously helpful throughout my life. Conservatives can’t be shocked when trans people end up in the arms of the anti-American communist fringe if you give us no pathway to become normal, well adjusted citizens. Boys that desperately want to be girls have always existed and will always exist. Assuming you don’t want to take us to the town square and shoot us, you need to find something to do with us. Clearly, this fringe communist ideology is not leading to good mental health and meaningful employment. But you can’t act surprised when you offer no alternative.
