So this is a nuanced view. 20 years ago, Trans women took the responsibility of passing on ourselves. Today the activist political project has offloaded that to the public and this is stupid. If you in good faith, Misgender someone because their voice is deep or they haven’t done electro, etc you’re actually giving them valuable feedback. That’s a signal that they need to work on some things. We have better technology to help than ever before. But there is a cruel political project to misgender trans women no matter how we look. This is what the Republicans are doing to Sarah McBride. It’s no different than maliciously calling someone fat, picking on someone disabled or making fun of someone with Down Syndrome. You’re just an asshole.

I’m not a bigot, but I do take issue with a biologically intact male standing in front of me in menswear telling me I’m misgendering him by referring to him as a man. To me, that’s just patently ridiculous. I’m not going to go out of my way to be an asshole, but I refuse to engage with them as a reasonable person.
