Whatever happened to me, I believe, is biological in nature. My earliest memory was having my long hair forcibly chopped to be short, and my parents tell me strangers came in from shops next door because they thought a child was being murdered. It felt like I was having a limb chopped off. I was like 4. There’s no agenda with a child that young. I was born with a primal sense of what I was, and I was being forced to be something else.
