I transitioned over 20 years ago. Not once in my entire life have I had someone scream at me and call me a tr*nny while doing an event like yesterday. More horrifying was the crowd cheering. I wish people could see the open hate that is being fostered against people like me. I wish people could see we are being pushed out of public life. I wish the marginalized groups I’ve spent my career standing with gave a fuck about us back. But they don’t. We are on our own and we need to see that clearly.
