This is going to be controversial. I no longer think a two-state solution is realistic, at least not in my lifetime. You cannot make peace with a culture that jubilantly parades the coffins of infant Jews they strangled. This is not a culture yearning for democracy and liberation. Palestinian culture, more than any other facet, is about hating Jews and Israel and slaughtering the people there. Every poll shows this. Here are other difficult truths. Gazans are child-marriage enthusiasts. They inculcate 10-year old boys to be soldiers. Their math books ask if you have 10 Zionists and kill 5, how many are left. I know it’s uncomfortable to think this, yet alone speak it. But it’s just the truth. Israel made a choice after the Holocaust. They built a paradise. Palestinians made the choice to build a culture around destroying it. Any state we propped up for them would be fantastically dangerous to innocent civilians. The people living in Gaza have been through hell. Polls show many people of them want out of this insanity. If they want to leave, they should be able to leave. This is hardly the first warzone where we’ve facilitated people exiting. And I wish the people that choose to stay the best, but we need to be realistic. If we rebuild their civilization for them yet again it will again become a machine to destroy Israel.
