I think it’s fair to look at Joy Reid and lament the loss of a high profile Black host. But, is she really the person to bring America into the next era? Is there not another Black person in America that could build a show with a wider audience and influence outside of vanishingly small elitist circles? Her brand of identity politics, heavily steeped in condescension and preachiness, has no future. I never once felt she was speaking for the country and not herself. I don’t think it helps Democrats to cling to ideas the American people, and a record number of Black men just soundly rejected. The way forward is everyone counts, or no one counts.
