This is the kind of story you see so much bias in once you actually go there and visit it. A. Reasonable people can conclude Israel is not “occupying” the West Bank. Jordan only held this land from 1948-1967. Plenty of nations have lost land in war. B. There is tons of land for everyone! This is what strikes you the most when you actually go there. For all the fuss about new settlements, what any reasonable person will see on the ground is mile after a mile of empty space. C. Stopping Israel from building new settlements in Area C doesn’t help the Palestinians in Area A. The core problem the Palestinians face is a corrupt Palestinian authority that will not invest in electricity or water. D. The second biggest problem Palestinians face is the security situation. Israel has understandably stopped people that live in the area A from working in the area C after October 7th. This has devastating economic effects. Resolving the security situation and lessening terrorism will help the Palestinians have more money. E. Israel has every right to control land that can be used to kill their citizens. I stood on a ledge in Area C and could see Jordan and Tel Aviv. Considering that a Palestinian assassinated a pregnant woman with a sniper rifle a few days ago, this is a real risk. This is not to say I endorse this expansion. But if the @BBCWorld is actual news and not propaganda this is relevant context.
