Transitioning literally saved my life. My earliest memories were that something was deeply wrong with me. I was a smart child but failed 7th grade and had to repeat it because I was in so much pain. By 20 I was doing every drug I could get my hands on trying to numb my pain. I overdosed, went to rehab and got clean. I knew I had a choice to make. Face what I was or relapse and succeed in killing myself. I made the braver choice. I know that the politics of transsexuality have gone off the rails. But at the core are people born this way, and transitioning helps us live fulfilled lives. Please don’t let that get lost with all this political silliness from people who aren’t even trans.
