The genocide in Gaza, marked by the destruction of infrastructure, indiscriminate bombings and mass killing, is repeatedly legitimized by the Israeli government under the guise of “security.” This logic, rooted in dehumanization, impunity and claims of existential threat, is taking hold across all territories under Israeli control. In the West Bank, there has been a sharp rise in the number of Palestinians killed by Israeli forces due to an unprecedentedly permissive open-fire policy that allows shooting to kill without real threat. Meanwhile, armed settlers, backed by the state, assault Palestinians daily, torch property, invade homes and seize land. Practices once rare in the West Bank, such as airstrikes, massive demolition campaigns and forced displacement of entire communities, have become common since October 2023. Israel has expanded its network of checkpoints and restricted Palestinians’ access to water, farmland and sources of livelihood, leading to an economic crisis marked by soaring poverty rates, unemployment and food insecurity. In the West Bank, since October 2023, Israel has: - Killed over 920 Palestinians, more than 190 of them children - Driven out at least 39 shepherding communities - Displaced 40,000+ people from refugee camps - Arrested more than 18,000 Palestinians For more than 22 months, Israel has been carrying out genocide in Gaza, shifting from a longstanding policy of control and oppression to eradication of Palestinian life there. Senior Israeli officials have openly boasted of the devastation and declared their intention to employ similar methods in the West Bank. With no force in Israel willing or able to stop the government’s campaign of annihilation, and no effective action by the international community, there is a clear and immediate danger that the genocide will not remain confined to Gaza. The genocide must be stopped. Now. Read the full report>> https://www.btselem.org/publications/202507_our_genocide
