Breaking the Silence
Today, together with over 80 other organisations at the “People’s Peace Summit” in Tel Aviv, we assert that peace is our only option. We say this neither out of naivety nor ignorance. The occupation is a deeply immoral system that only perpetuates violence. As former soldiers of the IDF, we know this firsthand. More than 72,600 people have been killed in Gaza, of whom more than 820 have been killed under the so-called “ceasefire”. Two children, aged 9 and 10, were killed just yesterday. In the West Bank, Palestinians are attacked by settler terrorists, backed by the IDF, every day. Since October 2023, 49 Palestinians communities in the West Bank have been ethnically cleansed. Palestinians are daily killed, tortured, and oppressed. The past two and a half years have been extraordinarily violent, but they stem directly from the system of occupation. Without abolishing it, peace is unimaginable. This is why, for achieving peace, the occupation must, and will, be abolished.
