Rɪᴄʜᴀʀᴅ Kᴇᴍᴘ ⋁
It’s basically a compound with rows and rows of food boxes. Large numbers of Gazans come in and take what they can carry. Many will cut open boxes and put the most prized items in sacks (flour, sugar, oil). There is no control over them except occasional loudspeaker instructions from GHF local employees. You can imagine how it works. To me it seems if the GHF attempted to impose order there may well be violence. One problem is women, they tend not to get much of a look in. GHF is considering having women’s days and several Gazan women told me they wanted that. It’s not perfect but it seems workable. I saw no serious violence beyond pushing and shoving. But I understand there have been more serious incidents at other times in some of the sites.
