When I was infected in March 2020, I reported to people in my life that I was having symptoms unlike anything I had ever experienced. I was terrifed. I thought I might die. My husband witnessed it all and was horrified. Yet, I was told I needed a better thermometer and dismissed. A few months later, when I started warning, I was told "Kids seem to do well with this." No evidence to back it up but a hell of a lot of confidence in that assertion. No humility in the face of a novel virus. None. Just a deeply hopium fuelled desperation to deny the crisis and get "back to normal" and "see smiles." /1
