MEET AN UNKNOWN ISRAELI HERO An IDF soldier posted the following message with this picture: “I am a combat soldier in Kfir. We have been protecting Israel from inside of Lebanon. Last Wednesday we were given a day off to enter Israel to run errands and then spend the night in our base in Israel. I arrived in Bet She’an where I planned to take a bus to my base. The bus never came. It was late at night and I didn’t know what to do - stuck in Bet She’an. I happened to see a sign for a boutique motel called “Ashtori.” I called the number. A man named Yossi answered. I told him my story and he immediately said he is coming to pick me up. He did so with a smile, drove me to his motel, put me in his nicest room that he called a suite, told me to put down my things, relax, shower, and then we can talk some more. After my shower I went to go work out payment for the night’s stay. He refused. He said that it’s his treat. I argued but to no avail. He would not accept any payment. I turned to go back to my room but Yossi said, ‘Let’s go out to eat.’ I told him that I wasn’t angry and after lots of back and forth with me refusing to go out, he told me that he was leaving. 20 minutes later there was a knock on my door. It was Yossi holding a bag filled with hot barekas and croissants in one hand, and a hot drink in the other. He said that he couldn’t not bring me something. Yossi treated me like his own son. He only left me to sleep after he knew that all my needs were taken care of. The next morning he contacted me to make sure I arrived safely at my base. Yossi is a golden person with a pure heart. I thank him so much for what he did for me.” So, meet Yossi. Just an “ordinary” Israeli who is actually an extraordinary Israeli hero.
