In Melbourne, 3rd world Copper thieves are literally leaving neighbourhoods in the dark, upgrading their hustle from ground-level water meters to stripping the valuable wire right out of local street and traffic lights. Victorian electricity distributors have reported an increase in streetlight infrastructure vandalism as relentless scavengers pry open electrical pits to fish out copper wiring they go on to resell. Melbourne is 3rd world.
