I want to say this guy, @daveshapi, is a dipshit. – He completely miscalibrated on GPT-5, on when it would come and how good it would be. - I pointed out that he had (and that lots of people believed him at the time) - He whinged about it, saying I was punching down - I took his complaint seriously and reworded my tweet to take him out of the focus as much as possible - I apologized - and he is still dragging me a week later, as if he is obsessed with me, but he continues to block me so I can’t reply (and eg tell him that I got a PhD from MIT when I was 23, got tenure at NYU at 30, founded two companies (one acquired by Uber in part for its machine learning IP that I helped develop), wrote 6 books, published in Science and Nature, etc called the limits on GPT-5 long long before others did, predicted hallucinations in 2001, helped shepherd the fast growing field of neurosymbolic AI into existence, testified in front of the Senate etc, etc) I regret having apologized. I should have doubled down.
