🇺🇳 Israeli forces shot and wounded a sixth-grade student inside a tented classroom in Gaza City on August 4, the UN reported. A day earlier, Israeli forces demolished homes in Beit Lahia and destroyed the last remaining school in what had been a four-school compound. The UN says Israeli troops had already pushed into the area the previous week, advancing between the agreed “Yellow Line” and Israel’s “Orange” coordination line (which marks areas where Israel blocks humanitarian staff from entering). There, Israeli forces destroyed tents sheltering nearly a dozen families in the schoolyard and installed new cement blocks, further expanding the territory where Israel restricts civilian and humanitarian access and forcibly displacing the families sheltering there. New advances were reported in Rafah overnight. Under the roadmap presented by the Board of Peace, Israel is required to withdraw to the original yellow line that encompasses 53% of Gaza before the second phase involving decommissioning and simultaneous withdrawal kicks off.
