hey there, folks! 👋 apparently the algorithm will actually let us see each other now, so proper introductions: i'm paige, devrel lead at @googledeepmind. before that: machine learning frameworks + python scientific computing libraries, @github and @code during the copilot era, @microsoft, machine learning @chevron, a few @nasa projects -- so i've basically spent my whole career trying to make ML and developer tools less painful, and telling everyone who will listen that anyone should be able to build software. (my current hot take: the most interesting AI frontier isn't in the IDE at all - it's robots, hardware, and embodied action. atoms, not just bits.) things you'll get from me: • ML + devtools takes, papers that broke my brain, demos of questionable practicality • speculative fiction opinions — i'm currently working through every hugo & nebula short fiction nominee since 1955 • art × technology experiments (i recently built an interactive installation about brain rot. it has a progress bar.) • geology enthusiasm, dark-sky stargazing, math and physics rabbit holes • live music — local, indie rock, and electronic, mostly. small venues and radio stations (like @ktru) forever • strange travel adventures — i've transited the entirety of the US (multiple times!) via @amtrak, sailed to antarctica, and @GreyhoundBus-ed literally all over australia things i want from you: what you're building, your best short story rec, the weirdest rock you've ever found, etc. reply and introduce yourself! 👇

Hey mutuals! 👋 If you haven't heard from me: - For the last five years, I served as a Sr Director of Engineering for Core Infra at Google, setting technical strategy and leading teams across Web, iOS, Android, Multiplatform, Experimentation, and O11y. - I also led the Search Mission, modernizing our systems across the entire SDLC to innovate for the AI wave. - Along the way, I did a stint as Core Reliability Lead (read: the designated fire extinguisher if internal infra went down) I haven't talked about these in detail because a lot of it is under NDA *whispers: I’m full of secrets 🐝* Recently, I returned to the IC track as a Distinguished Engineer in Chrome. - I’m serving as the Area Tech Lead (ATL) for AI and the Web Ecosystem. In short, I get to look across a massive horizon, focusing on how we secure the web in this new era while continuing to push the envelope of innovation. I also have 3 cute kids and 3 cute dogs. It’s like Noah’s Ark with an off-by-one error. 🐶 I still build things to blow off steam after hours. Sometimes that means getting lost in Minecraft or Valheim; other times, I’m drawing complex technical concepts, writing, or hacking away on side projects. People often mistake my hobby work for my day job, or limit what I do to what is in public (like my deep dive into SVGs back when I was working for distributed backend companies), but it's not my main work it's how I play, learn, and contribute to the community. Good to see you all again! 👋
