🇾🇪🇸🇦 Houthi forces made major gains on the ground today, taking control of the coastal city of Mocha, including its main port and airport. The city is strategically important, sitting on Yemen’s Red Sea coast near the Bab al-Mandab corridor, one of the world’s most sensitive maritime chokepoints. Mocha’s port and airport had previously served as a UAE military base before later being used by Saudi-backed Yemeni government forces after the UAE’s drawdown from Yemen. Meanwhile, footage released earlier today showed Saudi-backed Yemeni government forces withdrawing from Mocha in the early morning hours, shortly before Houthi forces entered and took control of the city.
