It’s been over a week since I posted this, I have confirmation that both Columbia admin and Spectator management have seen it, and still no one has reached out to apologize. No wonder so many Jews on the newspaper quit every year, and no wonder so many Jews are afraid to speak publicly about their adverse experiences on Spec. The school newspaper fulfills an important function on campus, vital to free speech and accountability within the university structure. Their blatant antisemitism directly opposes that mission. Oh, and also antisemitism is in and of itself unjust. But I shouldn’t need to tell you that.
