Last night, Ahmed and I (@afalkhatib) had the honor of visiting the @novaexhibition in LA, where we experienced a real life “walk through” of the harrowing terrorist attacks at Nova Festival. I’ll be honest that I looked down to the ground for most of it, not needing a reminder of the same story that lives in my body, as an Iranian, rent free. That said, as a Gazan and an Iranian, we shared in the pain of the Israelis on October 7, united in the common experience all 3 share of our homelands being destroyed by Jihadism. It is only in uniting together for peace, security, and sovereignty between the peoples of these lands that we are strong enough to defeat the common enemy we share. Even though Oct 7 and the aftermath has caused so much unspeakable devastation and changed the world as we know it, there is always a hazy silver lining in the dark cloud if we’re willing to see it. That silver lining is our unity from this time forward, our alliances, and our shared futures in the Middle East, no longer as enemies but as most beloved, honored, and cherished friends.
