Every time an Iranian protester was arrested then sentenced to death, we (Iranians) would launch online campaigns to bring attention to their name. Months of anticipation would pass, then, when we heard of an impending execution, we would gather and wait together with bated breath for the news. Upon finding out the worst, we would be torn apart and unable to function. Now, hearing the news about the 6 executed hostages and seeing the same response, I can’t help but think what a world of grief we are all put through at the hands of the same terrorists. Aside from acknowledging our shared pain, I want to make the point that whether you’re Iranian, Jewish, or Arab, there has to be a collective realization at some point that every horror, war, attack, and tragedy begins and ends with the terrorists. If we are to say that it is humanity and human life we care about, we cannot deny the endless years of Jihadism as the action that has engendered every counteraction.
