I’ve been so stressed seeing this story all over my timeline this morning. I don’t know if it’s true, but I pray to God this isn’t what I think it is. A lot of Iranians and Jews had an enormously difficult time during this election, and those who did vote Trump ultimately did so believing he was best for the Middle East. That fundamentally means expecting he’d take a hardline approach to the Islamic regime in Iran, in diametric opposition to the failed strategy of appeasement & diplomacy exercised by the democrats, most notably since Obama and going forward. Iranians don’t need any more experimentation to find out if appeasement works. These are not your friends, and they never will be. We learned that the hard way over and over again through these failed attempts at diplomacy that each administration would attempt anew. I’m going to give this the benefit of the doubt as the story unfolds, but if the Trump administration has plans of diplomacy with the regime, it will not only be once again a huge betrayal to 90 million Iranians—being hanged and terrorized by this foreign occupying force on a daily basis—but to the Americans who expected a hardline foreign policy against the terrorist regime.
