An arrogant American student asks Mosab Hassan Yousef—a Palestinian man who grew up in Gaza, spent 2 years in Israeli prisons, and was the son of a Hamas leader—whether he is “uneducated” and advised him to read books. Leftists horse-shoed from, “white people must not speak over those with lived experience” to, “I am the spokesperson of your people whom I’ve never met, narrator of your land where I’ve never been, and you will shut up and learn from me.” This, mind you, is all in the name of anti-colonialism. Because once upon a time, white people went to foreign lands and took control of the narrative, rewrote their histories, and reimagined their stories, and that was really, really bad.
