In order to change my priors about LLM lack of agency, I would have to know exactly what prompt triggered the Hugging Face incident. So far as I know that has not been disclosed. You assume that rogue AI agents have gone far outside of what they are told to do, but I'm not actually aware of direct evidence that this has been happening. And I do not trust most of the people reporting these incidents - they tend to be doomers with an agenda.
