Gaza is in ruins because its government embedded its military infrastructure — legitimate military targets — inside and under the civilian landscape. Hamas must not be allowed to rebuild this way again.

Over the next few days, we will see numerous pictures of the widespread destruction of buildings in Gaza. 1. The destruction is real and indeed widespread. 2. This is the direct result of Hamas’ intentional strategy of locating its terror infrastructure below and within Hamas’ population centers. There is NO other way of fighting a terror organization that has intentionally embedded itself deep within the civilian population other than temporarily relocating the civilian population, and then destroying the infrastructure. Any other strategy would be granting immunity, and victory, to the terrorist organization. 3. Now that Hamas remains in control of Gaza following the hostage deal, any reconstruction materials which enter Gaza will be used first and foremost to rebuild Hamas’ terror infrastructure in the heart of the Palestinian population. Any money spent on reconstruction will just go down the drain, as Israel will be forced once again to destroy Hamas’ terror tunnels, warehouses, manufacturing sites, command centers, launchpads etc in the next round of Israel-Hamas fighting.
