Germany invaded Poland in 1939. Iraq invaded Kuwait in 1990. These statements are uncontroversial. Nobody says “it wasn’t Germany, it was the Nazi Party” or “it was’t Iraq, it was the Saddam regime.” Hamas is the government of Gaza. Gaza invaded Israel on October 7.
